Vivian Wilson Embraces the Black Platform Trend in Los Angeles

Black platforms have been everywhere this season — on carpets, at fashion dinners and now on a quiet Los Angeles sidewalk, where Vivian Wilson added her name to the list. The model and daughter of Elon Musk was photographed arriving at the Awe Inspired showroom on Friday, wearing a sharply built pair of open-toe platform sandals that pushed her otherwise minimal look into statement territory.

Wilson’s sandals featured a high front platform and a tall stiletto heel. The upper consisted of a single wide strap across the toes and a thin ankle strap with a small silver buckle. A diagonal strap connected the ankle strap to the closed heel counter. The outsole was light beige, contrasting with the black straps and heel.

She wore the ankle-strap platform sandals with a form-fitting black dress and kept the rest simple, adding only a pair of rectangular sunglasses.

Her outing joins a string of platform moments this season. Rita Ora opted for a glossy black pair to the Balenciaga Diner in Paris, styled with leopard print. At the Gotham Awards, Amanda Seyfried chose metallic-woven platforms with a spring 2026 Valentino gown. Lottie Moss went for a crisscross style in Munich earlier this week. The common thread has been height, open toes and narrow ankle straps.

For Wilson, it marks another turn toward distinct footwear after last month’s Acne Studios ostrich-print boots — a thigh-high style built with a square toe and slender metal heel that contrasted sharply with Friday’s lighter, more open shape. Platforms offer a different reading for her, one aligned with Los Angeles casual-cool dressing and the current focus on height-driven silhouettes.

As she told WWD during New York Fashion Week, “Who knows what the future holds, darling?” For now, it seems to include shoes with a measurable lift and a clean, towering profile. Other celebrities, however, are taking it to the next level, pairing towering sandals with socks.
